2013 Castello di Luzzano Malvasia Tasti di Seta Colli Piacentini, Lombardy Case $211.95
This is 100% Malvasia di Candia sourced from Ziano Piacentino. Grapes are hand‐picked and immediately gently pressed. The first pressed must (55% of the total) is separated, lightly clarified and then left to ferment at a low controlled temperature until complete dryness. The wine is next racked and matures gently on its lees throughout the winter before bottled in the spring. Aged 6 months in stainless steel. ‐ Castello di Luzzano estate has always been one of the leading producers of Malvasia in the Colli Piacentini area and decided to make their first still Malvasia in 2004. The wine’s finesse and elegance led to the name ‘Tasto di Seta’ or ‘touch of silk.’ 5,000 bottle production “Bright straw yellow. A very intense, aromatic, floral nose of acacia, cypress and mint. Balanced and soft on the characteristically fragrant palate, with excellent length. Excellent as an aperitif; well‐suited for risottos, dishes made with fresh pasta, egg and vegetable dishes, salami and white meats. Exceptional with fat‐fleshed dishes and seafood.”
